Last summer M/V Neptune Thelisis transported 24 trailers for the well known ‘Cirque du Soleil ’ from Livorno, Italy, to Ashdod, Israel where the next performances for the ‘Alegria’ show took place.
According to what has been reported by Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide, Piraeus-based Neptune Lines announced yesterday that at least four of its vessels will fly the Hellenic flag.
Neptune Kefalonia is already making the transition from the Maltese to the Hellenic Shipping Registry, Neptune Ithaki will follow during the first days of February, while the other two ships to sail under the Greek flag are currently under construction.
This decision follows the plan – announced by the Greek Minister of Mercantile Shipping Kostas Mousouroulis – to modernize the Hellenic Shipping Registry by reducing bureaucracy and introducing a new ‘electronic register’ with the aim of retaining the vessels already registered and attracting new ones. The increasing in the number of vessels registered under the Greek flag will help the State to get higher revenues and to lower unemployment.
