Our Responsibility to Society

Neptune Lines sees itself as a stakeholder in the Global community. The Company is therefore committed to undertaking initiatives that realize this responsibility towards the environment and society.
On an Organizational level, Neptune Lines has adopted a policy of continual improvement towards environmental awareness through the application of a specific Environmental Management System, that is applied both at sea and ashore, and has obtained ISO 14001 certification.
Fuel and lubricant consumption is monitored and controlled, while independent laboratories analyze all bunkers used to ensure efficient operation of machinery and reduce consumption levels.
A programme has been initiated for the coating of newer vessels in the fleet, with a silicon based fouling release surface coating, that is biocide free and environmentally friendly.
Neptune Lines’ newbuildings equipped with slow speed engines rather than medium speed engines, as these reduce consumption and CO2 emissions.
The Company is also investigating the use of an energy saving device to improve hull and propeller efficiency and reduce consumption and emission levels.
Company procedures include recycling and reduction of paper consumption through proper use of software so that the target of a paperless organization can be achieved.
Furthermore, Neptune Lines also strives to create a working environment that cares for, awards and respects employees. Training and further education are an ongoing process within the Company, while clearly defined human resource policies ensure constant support of employees and safe working practices in the business environment.
