Neptune Lines is committed in closely following the evolution of European policies, related to our corporate mission and objectives. In this context, we have participated in several EU projects:
Caresmatic (2016 - ongoing)
The Action aims at increasing the use of Motorways of the Sea services for transport of cars in the Mediterranean, by improving the infrastructure for direct land and sea access to the ports of Koper and Barcelona. More specifically, at the Port of Koper the construction of a new ro-ro berth in Basin III and a new 6th group of railway tracks are scheduled to be built in the framework of the Action. Further, CarEsmatic will increase knowledge about the distribution of electric and hybrid vehicles, supporting in particular Mediterranean ports to cope with future developments in relation to the automotive industry and therefore supporting such industry. Such activity will include pilot installations of charging stations at the two ports and on board two Neptune vessels. Partners participating to the projects are Luka Koper, d.d. (coordinator), Barcelona Port Authority, Autoterminal S.A. and Neptune Lines. The Action which is co-financed by the EU through the CEF program (priority MoS) has started in March 2016 and is scheduled to be implemented by end of 2018.
Poseidon Med II (2016 - 2020) - continuation of Poseidon Med - COSTA II East (2014 - 2015)
Neptune Lines participates in this EU project, part of TEN-T Motorways of the Sea, aimed at developing a strategy for the promotion of LNG (liquefied natural gas) as marine fuel. Poseidon Med focuses on the eastern Mediterranean region with 5 Member States (Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia) in order to prepare a detailed infrastructure development plan for LNG as fuel for shipping operations.
Business to Motorways of the Sea - B2MOS (2013 – 2015)
This project was initiated by the MOS4MOS Action. The B2MoS global project aims to provide a suitable array of measures in order for ports to become efficient gateways for short sea shipping in order to compete on more door-to-door corridors and facilitate the development of TEN-T Motorways of the Sea network connecting Europe. The project is contributing to establishing a European maritime space without barriers by facilitating and simplifying compliance with regulations and by promoting intermodal sustainable transport solutions that reinforce the Motorways of the Sea (MoS) strategy and that take full advantage of existing port facilities and short sea capacities.
MOS4MOS – completed project (2011-2012)
Monitoring and Operation Services for Motorways of the Sea (MOS4MOS) is a project demonstrating how the application of emerging and existing technologies sustained by efficient communication procedures and collaborative information exchanges among public and private stakeholders, can improve, promote and simplify the use of multimodal short-sea services by using motorways of the sea.
KOBALINK - Neptune Lines participated in this EU project (Marco Polo framework), whose purpose was to shift the vehicle logistic transport service between Eastern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula from road to short sea shipping.
